Empowering LGBTQ+ Lives Through Pride Month and Onward

·

As the world celebrates and embraces diversity during Pride Month, Ohdoki will be taking a step forward by supporting the Ali Forney Center in their mission to protect and empower LGBTQ+ youth. For the month of June, Ohdoki will donate $5 of every Handy sold on thehandy.com to the Ali Forney Center

The Ali Forney Center was founded in 2002 by Carl Siciliano in memory of Ali Forney, a gender-nonconforming teenager who tragically lost their life. Ali’s experience as a homeless LGBTQ+ youth inspired the establishment of the center, which aims to assist young people in the perils of homelessness and equip them with the necessary tools for independent living. Starting with just six beds in a church basement, the Ali Forney Center has since become the largest agency dedicated to LGBTQ+ homeless youth in the United States.

At the heart of Ali Forney Center’s services is their commitment to providing a full continuum of care for LGBTQ+ homeless youth. Through a 24-hour Drop-In Center, Ali Forney Center offers support to over 2,000 young individuals annually. This center provides vital services such as over 70,000 meals each year, medical and mental health assistance through an on-site clinic, and a scattered site housing program. By addressing their immediate needs and fostering a safe environment, Ali Forney Center strives to transform the lives of LGBTQ+ youth.

At Ohdoki, we believe in a world where sexual health and pleasure are accessible to all, regardless of circumstances, sexuality, or gender. The Ali Forney Center shares a vital mission that resonates deeply with Ohdoki. We recognize the challenges faced by those who, due to various restrictions, are often denied the opportunity to explore their sexuality. This is why we have aligned our values with the Ali Forney Center’s vision of creating a world where all LGBTQ+ youth can thrive.

We invite you to join us in this mission of inclusivity, understanding, and support. Together, let us celebrate Pride Month and contribute to the positive change we wish to see. Love knows no bounds, and sexual health should be accessible to all. We encourage you to learn more about the Ali Forney Center here: https://www.aliforneycenter.org/
